Donald Trump has made US$2.2 billion in his second term. How does that stack up against other US presidents?

politics

President Donald Trump's reported revenue jumped to two point two billion dollars in 2025, his first year in his second term — more than triple the six hundred twenty-two million dollars he earned in 2024, per The Conversation. Historically, US presidents from Kennedy through Obama generally put business assets in trusts or waited until after leaving office to earn significant money. Trump is different — profiting from his position while serving. He hosted a White House UFC event last month that cost roughly sixty million dollars, much of it taxpayer-funded, where fighters received bonuses in Trump-family cryptocurrency. He's also launched a paid data feed from Truth Social, his social media platform, giving subscribers early access to posts from the president and other powerful figures. The move has sparked calls for Securities and Exchange Commission investigation, since posts from powerful people are known to move markets. According to a CNN poll, nearly two-thirds of Americans believe Trump has gone too far in pursuing personal business interests while president.
