BornHack Radio 102.8 FM, Playing Radio At A Hacker Camp
tech
BornHack, a hacker camp, had its first broadcast FM radio station this summer. Hackaday reports that the station broadcast on one hundred two point eight FM at five watts with a purely analogue signal and no online stream—a constraint that became a feature. The camp rejected music licensing entirely; all programming was speech-only: talk shows, interviews, live feeds from speakers, and even a hacker Jeopardy broadcast. The studio was a simple mixing desk inside a shelter, and because there was no online archive, the broadcasts carried something rare in twenty twenty-six: freedom from permanent digital record.
