University of Maryland ‘teacher of the year’ detained by ICE in Texas

Berhanu Kibret, an instructor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore's pharmacy school, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at Dallas-Fort Worth airport in Texas. The detention came on the heels of Kibret receiving his institution's 'teacher of the year' award, per The Guardian. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the arrest, citing an expired visa.
