Jay Clayton was sworn in on Tuesday as the US Director of National Intelligence, following a contentious Senate confirmation hearing where he refused to directly acknowledge that Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent administered the oath in the Oval Office, with the president applauding. The Guardian reports Clayton replaces Tulsi Gabbard, who departed the position in June.
