Establishment Democrats notch rare win as Wesley Bell fends off DSA-backed Cori Bush

According to Axios, Democratic Rep. Wesley Bell of Missouri defeated former Rep. Cori Bush in a Tuesday primary, dealing a rare loss to left-wing groups seeking to avenge Bush's twenty twenty-four primary defeat. The establishment got significant backing: AIPAC's super PAC spent more than three million dollars to support Bell, while House Democratic leadership and the Congressional Black Caucus endorsed him. Bush, who represented the Saint Louis-based seat from twenty twenty-one to twenty twenty-five, had support from Senator Bernie Sanders and groups including the Democratic Socialists of America. With about a quarter of precincts reporting, Bell led by forty-five percentage points, and the Associated Press projected his victory. In November's general election, Bell is heavily favored — the district has voted decisively Democratic.
