Penguins and dolphins among nearly 400 Australian species under threat from bird flu as ‘true extent of disaster’ revealed

A federal government assessment released on Wednesday has identified nearly four hundred native Australian species at high risk from H five N one bird flu. The Guardian reports that the list includes penguins, dolphins, fur seals, quolls, more than three hundred bird species, and the Tasmanian devil. These animals could face severe population reduction or worse if the virus reached them.
