Vandalism of Melbourne defence manufacturer being investigated as terrorist act by ‘far-left extremists’

A vandalism and arson incident at Melbourne-based defence manufacturer Lovitt Technologies is now being investigated as a potential act of terrorism, The Guardian reports. Australian federal and Victorian police, along with the intelligence agency ASIO, say they're examining whether the July 5th, 2025 incident was carried out by far-left extremists motivated by anarchist and revolutionary ideologies. A group claiming responsibility released video raising the prospect of further action. Those involved could face life imprisonment if charged and convicted under terrorism laws.
