An attack ‘motivated by anarchist and revolutionary ideology’: is far-left terrorism a growing concern?
world
Australian authorities are investigating an arson and vandalism attack on a Melbourne defence manufacturer as a possible act of far-left terrorism, The Conversation reports. Federal police say the incident, which allegedly saw a five-person cell set fire to three cars at Lovitt Technologies on Wednesday of last week, was claimed by a group citing opposition to F-35 fighter jet component production and its links to Israel. According to the outlet, this marks the first time such an attack has been investigated as terrorism in Australia, after ASIO's director general flagged a recent rise in far-left extremism tied to the Middle East conflict.
