Locarno Open Doors 2026: Next Gen African Tales of Miraculous Snowfalls, Lost Dreams, an African Keyboard Prodigy and New Heroes

The Locarno Film Festival is highlighting African cinema through its 2026 Open Doors program, running through August tenth. According to Variety, three films look like standouts: 'Chapa 100,' a magic realist love story; 'A Vineyard for a Lobster,' an absurdist political allegory; and 'Hibiscus by the River,' a cross-continental queer drama.
