Zelenskyy rails at lack of anti-missile defences amid deadly Russian attack on Kyiv – Europe live

At least seventeen people were killed and more than forty injured after Russia launched a huge overnight attack on Kyiv, according to The Guardian. Ukraine's air force said it shot down ninety-eight of the one hundred fifteen drones fired, but was unable to intercept any of the missiles. President Zelenskyy pressed allies on the lack of anti-missile defenses, arguing that anti-ballistic measures could have saved lives. As The Guardian notes, Kyiv can down most drones on its own but still depends on allied supplies to counter incoming missiles.
