Scientists discover the brain cells that keep you motivated

ScienceDaily reports that researchers have identified brain cells called orexin neurons that appear to help sustain motivation when reaching a reward becomes increasingly difficult. In experiments with rats, blocking the activity of these neurons weakened motivation, pointing to these cells as a potential target for understanding why people sometimes struggle with sustained goal-directed behavior.
