UN rights chief says Iran executed at least 56 people since March

Iran has executed at least fifty-six people since March, according to the United Nations human rights chief. Volker Turk warns of a surge in executions aimed at suppressing dissent following the January uprising. The UN has repeatedly criticized Iran's use of capital punishment as a tool of political control.
