Man and woman found dead in outback Queensland home after hours-long police siege

A police siege in outback Queensland has ended with the deaths of two people. The Guardian reports that authorities were called around six p.m. on Wednesday to investigate a reported serious assault at a home in Charleville, six hundred kilometers west of Toowoomba. The standoff lasted nearly eight hours, during which several streets in the town were put under lockdown. A forty-five-year-old man and twenty-three-year-old woman were found dead in the home.
