science
The Guardian reports that a female pygmy hippo calf was born on Sunday at Toronto Zoo — Kindia's third. The 20-year-old mother began active labor around 8:15 in the morning and delivered after about an hour and a half. Zoo officials are closely monitoring the newborn, as pygmy hippo survival rates are challenging, but the birth marks progress for the species.
