Full Teardown of a 2026 Amazon Fire Stick HD
tech
Hackaday reports on a full teardown of Amazon's new Fire Stick HD. A YouTube channel examined the internals and found fairly typical Mediatek components, along with ceramic patch antennas for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The key discovery: the HD model's hardware is nearly identical to Amazon's four-K versions—same processor, same GPU, same video decoder capable of four-K playback. That means the 'HD versus four-K' distinction is purely software-based. The implication is tantalizing: users might unlock four-K video with a software tweak, or by sideloading plain Android onto the device's eight gigabytes of storage.
