Man and pregnant woman found dead in outback Queensland home in apparent murder-suicide after long siege

The Guardian reports that a man and a pregnant woman have been found dead at a home in the outback Queensland town of Charleville, in an apparent murder-suicide. Police locked down several streets in the remote town, six hundred kilometers west of Toowoomba, after arriving at a property on King Street on Wednesday evening following reports of a serious assault. The standoff stretched on for nearly eight hours before officers found the pair, a forty-five-year-old man and a twenty-three-year-old woman, dead inside.
