A 45-year-old man and a pregnant 23-year-old woman have been found dead in a home in the outback Queensland town of Charleville, in what police describe as an apparent murder-suicide, The Guardian reports. The standoff began Wednesday evening after officers responded to reports of a serious assault at the property on King Street, and ran nearly eight hours before ending Thursday, with several streets in the remote town — six hundred kilometers west of Toowoomba — locked down. A toddler who was in the home throughout the siege was found unharmed.
