Scammed into selling her apartment, Moscow woman sets it on fire as bailiffs arrive to evict her

world

A sixty-eight-year-old woman in Moscow's Babushkinsky district set her apartment on fire as bailiffs arrived to evict her on Thursday, Meduza reports, citing the outlet Msk1. Identified as Natalia Ivanova, she had sold the two-room apartment for nine point five million rubles back in twenty twenty-two after scammers posing as security service officers convinced her to hand over the proceeds. She never moved out, and after the new owner won a court case, eviction was scheduled for that day. Video showed her telling bailiffs she had no money to move her belongings before she set the fire; she was hospitalized with burns covering seventy percent of her body.
