Going Full Fruity with Apple’s 1999 High-End Power Mac G3

Dan Wood recently assembled a complete Power Mac G3 setup from nineteen ninety-nine, complete with matching translucent monitor and peripherals. Apple's colorful G3 debuted during Steve Jobs' return to the company, and as Hackaday reports, high-end models cost around two thousand dollars in nineteen ninety-nine—or roughly four thousand in today's money. The machines packed three hundred to four hundred fifty megahertz processors and up to one hundred ninety-two megabytes of memory, and featured an unusually user-friendly folding-lid design for accessing and upgrading components. What's remarkable is that this particular machine, which served as a graphics design workstation until twenty ten, remains entirely functional in twenty twenty-six, capable of running Mac OS eight point six or the more advanced OS X ten point four.
