A 937 eruption at Mount Fuji left a cave shaped like a womb

science

An eruption of Mount Fuji in nine thirty-seven sent lava down the volcano's northern slopes and over fallen trees. The lava hardened around the tree trunks while the wood inside burned away, leaving hollow tubes in the ground. Boing Boing reports the resulting formation is notably womb-shaped—an unusual thousand-year-old geological artifact.
