Thick wildfire smoke has blanketed the US Pacific Northwest, and per The Guardian, Seattle and Portland ranked among the most polluted cities in the world as of Thursday afternoon, according to IQAir's global air quality index. Firefighters have made progress against some of the larger blazes in Washington state, though the smoke continues to cloak the region.
