Explosive drone found hovering near Ukrainian cargo aircraft at German airport

world

German authorities have disarmed a drone carrying explosives discovered near Ukrainian cargo aircraft at Leipzig Airport, per Ars Technica. The device was spotted hovering close to the ground between two parked An-124 aircraft owned by Antonov Airlines shortly before midnight on August 4th. German interior minister Alexander Dobrindt said the drone had been modified to evade the airport's drone detection sensors and was carrying a fist-sized package of what officials believe to be Semtex plastic explosive. Only a failed detonator prevented detonation, Dobrindt said. Authorities are also investigating a possible second drone after an approaching aircraft reported a midair collision with an unknown object.
