Reuters: U.S. asks Russia to release imprisoned former Marine Robert Gilman; his family fears he is near death

Marco Rubio personally raised the case of imprisoned former Marine Robert Gilman with Russia's foreign minister in late July, but his family fears time is running out. According to Meduza, Gilman's relatives say he's been in a dissociative stupor since June and is now being fed through a tube, with allegations he was tortured and given mind-altering drugs while in custody. Detained in Voronezh in 2022 after an alleged altercation with police, his sentence was later extended to ten years following a dispute with prison staff. The State Department says it's deeply concerned about his health, as Gilman remains one of at least ten Americans currently held in Russia.
