Wearable ultrasound patch boosts REM sleep without drugs or surgery

Researchers have developed a wearable ultrasound patch that may help people reach REM sleep faster and stay there longer, without requiring medication or surgery. In a study of twenty-eight participants, per ScienceDaily, the patch shortened the time to entering REM by forty-three minutes and extended the stage by about sixteen minutes. The device also showed signs of improving stress regulation and altering brain circuits tied to emotion.
