Scientists rediscover lost Megalodon fossils—and reveal a 79-foot giant

Per ScienceDaily, researchers have rediscovered enormous Megalodon vertebrae thought destroyed in nineteen eighty-nine—the fossils were simply sitting unnoticed on a museum shelf. Analysis of the remains strengthens evidence that these giant prehistoric sharks could exceed twenty-four meters in length, roughly seventy-nine feet, and live for nearly a century. The research suggests that Megalodon newborns may have measured three point six meters, or about twelve feet.
