Murkowski will oppose Blanche, threatening his confirmation

Attorney general nominee Todd Blanche faces a steep confirmation challenge after Senator Lisa Murkowski announced Friday she'll oppose him. According to Axios, the Alaska Republican said the country needs an attorney general willing to check the administration's worst impulses—and she doesn't have confidence Blanche fits that bill. Murkowski joins Maine Republican Susan Collins in opposition. With Senator Mitch McConnell absent, Blanche can only afford to lose two Republican votes assuming all Democrats vote against him. The math is now against him, though Louisiana Republican Bill Cassidy's position remains undecided.
