‘It didn’t need to end this way’: mother of US teen trafficked and killed decries police failures

Kristen Galvan's family says Houston police failed her, both by not protecting her after she gave forensic interviews identifying her traffickers, and by taking more than six years to identify her remains. Robyn Cory, Kristen's mother, says her fifteen-year-old daughter, who was trafficked and killed, was not protected. The Texas attorney general's office announced on July twenty-eighth that advanced DNA testing conducted over the past year had positively identified remains found beneath a bridge near a jogging trail in Missouri City, Texas, as Kristen's.
