‘Not afraid of controversy’: Edinburgh fringe rejects calls to cancel Amanda Knox comedy

entertainment

The Edinburgh festival fringe is standing by a sold-out comedy show from Amanda Knox, who was falsely imprisoned for the 2007 murder of her flatmate Meredith Kercher in Italy. The show, called Cartwheel, has drawn condemnation from Kercher's sister Stephanie, who says it normalises and trivialises violence against women, and a petition to cancel it has gathered more than six thousand signatures. Festival organisers, The Guardian reports, say they are not afraid of controversy.
