Neutrinos From Deep Inside Earth Provide a New Picture of the Mantle

According to Quanta Magazine, researchers are using deep-underground neutrino detectors to study Earth's interior. Their facility sits two kilometers below the surface, in a cavern containing seven thousand tons of ultrapure water—one of the darkest places on Earth. Scientists measure neutrinos there to better understand the planet's mantle structure.
