Music is Back on Optical Disk in This Plex Server

When rising hard drive prices made storage expensive, one builder revisited Blu-ray BDXL disks for his Plex music server. Hackaday reports that archival M-disks — rated to last a thousand years in ideal conditions — are now competitively priced, and once the disk is indexed by Plex, music streams without lag. A hundred gigabytes holds a few thousand lossless tracks, so disk swaps are rare. The catch: this financial advantage probably won't survive the next storage-price cycle.
