New official 30th anniversary Quake mission pack adds new maps and mechanics
entertainment
Id Software and publisher Bethesda released "Dawn of the Machine," a new campaign chapter for Quake, marking the thirtieth anniversary of the original game. Per Ars Technica, the content was developed by MachineGames—best known for the Wolfenstein reboots and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle—in collaboration with id Software. The maps were created by Quake Club, a team of MachineGames employees working on maps in their spare time. Using Trenchbloom, a modern map editor far more capable than the tools available in the late nineteen nineties, they built levels more ambitious than typical for the original game.
