At least one person dead in California wildfire allegedly sparked by chainsaw

At least one person has died in a wildfire burning in the foothills of California's Sierra Nevada, in Calaveras county. The Gann fire has burned more than fifteen square miles and destroyed seven buildings, and among the dead is a well-known local dog breeder from the town of Angels Camp, The Guardian reports. Police arrested sixty-five-year-old Herbert Wayne Smith in connection with the blaze, which officials believe was sparked by a man using a chainsaw.
