AI Regulation Map: a view of AI governance in 196 countries

A software engineer named Ria Deane has launched an interactive map tracking AI governance across one hundred ninety-six countries. Per LessWrong, the AI Regulation Map website scores each nation on five dimensions: regulation status, enforcement level, policy breadth, governance structure, and industry participation, with monthly updates powered by an automated research pipeline. The project fills a genuine gap—previously, understanding how countries approach AI regulation meant scouring hundreds of sources, many in different languages. All the data is open source and downloadable, and Deane is inviting policy experts to critique the methodology. She's created a transparent tool that makes global AI governance patterns visible and directly comparable.
