‘We’re the pawns’: Epstein survivors say DOJ has failed them as Todd Blanche takes over

politics

The Senate has confirmed Todd Blanche, President Trump's former personal defense lawyer, as attorney general in a narrow fifty to forty-nine vote early Saturday morning. According to The 19th, Epstein survivors including Liz Stein had lobbied against his confirmation, saying Blanche showed no urgency in expanding the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's associates. Republican Senators Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski broke with their party to vote no, with Murkowski citing concerns about the politicization of the Justice Department, but a last-minute yes from Senator Bill Cassidy sealed Blanche's confirmation. Survivors say they've struggled for meetings with DOJ officials for months, and Stein described a since-arranged sit-down with Blanche as lacking in compassion or new answers.
