The first self-driving vehicle on Mars has proven to be a smashing success
science
Ars Technica reports that NASA's Perseverance rover will set a distance record: it will travel more than forty-five point one six kilometers across Mars. This surpasses the distance record set by Opportunity, which ceased communications in twenty eighteen. Perseverance, which landed on the red planet in February twenty twenty-one, will reach this milestone in significantly less time than Opportunity—a major achievement for the ongoing mission.
