Saudi Arabia and Qatar condemn Iranian attack on UAE tanker
world
Per Middle East Eye, Iran attacked a UAE tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting swift condemnation from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Saudi Arabia called the attack a "grave violation" of international law and said it threatened maritime security and global energy supplies, demanding Iran cease what it described as continued aggression. Qatar separately condemned the incident as a "flagrant violation" of freedom of navigation and criticized Iran's use of the strategic waterway as a negotiating tool. Both nations warned that continued closure of the Strait threatens regional economies and global trade, with Qatar calling for the waterway to be reopened without conditions.
