Whereabouts of nearly 300 people with Ebola unknown in DRC
health
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is facing a serious Ebola outbreak with alarming gaps in disease tracking. Nearly three hundred people have tested positive for the virus, but their whereabouts are currently unknown, according to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The crisis stems from the conflict in the affected region, which has displaced more than one million people into camps that health workers cannot access. The organization's director general warns of the potential for quote, 'huge, huge community transmission.' Epidemiological modeling predicts the outbreak could produce thousands of cases and deaths by September.
