High-Density Parchment Paper Papertronics with Laser-Carved Hydrophilic Channels

Researchers have found a promising new approach to papertronics—circuits built on paper instead of silicon. According to Hackaday, they used a laser to etch channels into parchment paper, then filled them with conductive inks to create functional components like resistors and capacitors. This approach offers much finer resolution than previous paper-based methods—around 250 micrometers for line widths. The material is cheap and recyclable, though most of it degrades in soil; only the protective silicone coating remains chemically stable over time.
