Infantino denies allegations of affair, favouritism while at UEFA

politics

FIFA president Gianni Infantino is facing fresh allegations after The Telegraph reported he paid off an alleged intimate partner while serving as secretary general of UEFA from twenty-oh-nine to twenty-sixteen. The newspaper says he also used his influence to secure a promotion for the same UEFA employee, who received a six-figure sum upon her departure, plus roughly forty-five thousand dollars in MBA tuition. Infantino, who has been married since two-thousand one, categorically denies the claims. UEFA confirmed that a departure payment and MBA fees were made, saying the arrangement was in line with regulations at the time, though rules have since been tightened. FIFA stated that no employee has ever raised a complaint about his behavior. The allegations come as he faces re-election next March, amid fallout from his controversial—and now-abandoned—World Cup investor plan.
