Here's what to expect from 5 stages of the total solar eclipse 2026

Space.com reports that a total solar eclipse arrives on August twelfth—in just three days. The moon will glide directly in front of the sun, casting its shadow along a corridor a hundred eighty-two miles wide, cutting through Spain, Iceland, and Greenland. Those in the path of totality will witness up to two minutes eighteen seconds of midday darkness, when the sun's corona blazes as a brilliant white halo around the moon, along with glowing prominences leaping outward from the sun's atmosphere. Hundreds of millions more watching from outside this narrow corridor will see a partial eclipse as the moon takes its bite out of the sun.
