On-duty cop martyred, another injured in Lakki Marwat attack

A police constable was killed and another wounded on Sunday when gunmen opened fire on a rider squad patrol near a graveyard in Lakki Marwat, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Dawn reports Constable Sajidullah died in the attack while Constable Muhammad Waqas was seriously injured; both were taken to Government City Hospital. Police cordoned off the area and launched a search for the attackers. The attack comes amid a broader surge in militant violence in KP, where a security assessment released July 31st found security personnel deaths in terrorism incidents nearly tripled from June to July.
