How data centers can better manage energy use

tech

According to MIT News, new research finds that data centers could cut electricity costs by strategically timing when they consume power. The study suggests that flexibility in the timing of energy consumption—shifting computational workloads toward off-peak hours, for example—could meaningfully lower what both data centers and consumers pay for electricity. As data centers continue to grow in size and importance, smarter energy management could save millions while reducing strain on the electrical grid.
