The census will ask about your sexual orientation. What should you write?

Australia's census on Tuesday night will ask respondents sixteen and older about their sexual orientation for the first time in the nation's history, The Conversation reports. The Australian Bureau of Statistics offers options including straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, another term, or prefer not to answer. The ABS says better data on sexual orientation will help shape decisions about funding and services for lesbian, gay, and bisexual communities. Respondents who don't feel safe disclosing can request their own individual form to complete privately.
