Pope Leo the Fourteenth called for peace in Sudan on Sunday, urging a humanitarian corridor into El-Obeid, the besieged capital of North Kordofan state. According to Africanews, residents there are going without adequate food, water, and medical supplies as fighting continues. The Vatican has repeatedly used papal addresses to press for civilian relief access in conflict zones.
