Harry Potter fans force relocation of £430m undersea cable to avoid Dobby’s ‘grave’

Per The Guardian, a four-hundred-thirty-million-pound power cable connecting the UK and Ireland has been rerouted after Harry Potter fans protested its original path. The original route would have passed near Freshwater West beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales, where followers of the wizard series leave stones reading "Here Lies Dobby"—tributes to the fictional elf character buried there in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The National Trust, which owns the ecologically sensitive beach, has discouraged the practice, but fans continue to visit. The cable's new route now passes near Bronze Age human burial remains instead.
