Trump takes his second swing at Fed’s Cook

President Trump's administration is making another legal push against Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook over allegations of mortgage fraud, Semafor reports. After the Supreme Court left the door open in June for Trump to relitigate the case, White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino has sent Cook a letter giving her three weeks to respond. Cook's legal team says the allegations are baseless and have never been litigated, but the move is already sparking concerns about whether the Federal Reserve can maintain its independence as it considers whether to raise interest rates at its next meeting.
