Typhoon Dolphin forces 1M to evacuate in China

More than a million people evacuated China's eastern coast, including Shanghai, as Typhoon Dolphin made landfall with winds near ninety-five miles an hour. Semafor reports it's the strongest storm to hit the country this year, bringing torrential rain and flooding alongside those winds. Shanghai has built up substantial storm defenses, though rising sea levels tied to climate change have left the city more exposed. Despite the scale of evacuations, improved forecasting and early-warning systems have generally driven storm death tolls down in recent years.
