Europe suffers hottest summer on record

Western Europe just logged its hottest summer on record. A climate monitor put the regional average at twenty-one point six two degrees Celsius, seventy-one degrees Fahrenheit, topping the previous record set in twenty twenty-two, Semafor reports. Low river levels have disrupted transportation, irrigation, and energy production in several countries, while Britain has already seen more days above thirty degrees Celsius, eighty-six degrees Fahrenheit, than in any prior year, with most of August still ahead. The heat and drought have caused thousands of deaths, and wildfires have even begun detonating buried explosives left over from the two World Wars, per Semafor.
