YouTube now requires creators to have twice as many watch hours to start earning money

TechCrunch reports YouTube has doubled the watch hour requirement for monetization. Creators will now need eight thousand qualified watch hours over the past year, or twenty million qualified Shorts views in the last ninety days, up from the previous four thousand hour threshold. The shift tightens the pathway for new creators seeking to earn on the platform.
