Australia adds optional gender identity, sexual orientation questions to census

Australia is adding optional questions about gender identity and sexual orientation to its next census, according to The Hindu. The Australian Bureau of Statistics says the questions will better represent these populations while remaining voluntary—acknowledging that some citizens want to share this data while others don't.
